Task 1- the thinking cap

Movie Her

Her, also known as Ella, is a film written and directed by Spike Jonze. The film mixes science fiction with the romantic genre and was released in 2013. It stars Joaquin Phoenix, who plays a man who is about to get divorced and finds love again in an operating system. This film explores, among other themes, the complexity of relationships and loneliness in a future time in which machines are increasingly humanized. Isolation in times of hyperconnection.

Two research ideas

 1. The film places us in the near future to introduce us to Theodore: a lonely writer with a traumatic divorce in tow, who acquires a new operating system for his phone and computer. Her name is "Samantha" and she is based on an advanced Artificial Intelligence model designed to meet all user needs. "Samantha" is sexy, funny, compassionate, a good listener, gives good advice and, to Theodore's surprise, they soon fall in love with each other.

2, Love is perhaps the human sentiment that has perhaps most inspired the human narrative. However, a study of artistic sources shows us how this concept of love has been changing over time. This paper presents an analysis of the film Her by Spike Jonse (2013) and see how different types of love and perspectives come together in it that opens the new technologies of information and communication

The Role of Contemplative Teaching in EFL Learners' Speaking Development and Self-Regulation: Leaners’ Attitudes.

  • what is the main purpose of oral instruction in contemplative teaching for learners of English as a foreign language?

         What is its significance in the field of language learning?

•           Contemplative teaching, similar to contemplative understanding is a move toward the processes of teaching and learning that emphasizes entirety. Entirety embraces both positive and negative aspects and “thrives on paradox; seeming contradictions such as art  and science can complement each other” (Byrnes, 2012, p. 28). The main purpose of speaking instruction is to develop flexibility and adaptability in students to draw from and use the whole range of possible component knowledge and cue sources interchangeably as strategies. The constructs of self-regulation and speaking development appear intertwined, in that both theories are developing students’ ability to be adaptive and flexible in the strategy used to achieve (speaking) goals. Both increase self-efficacy and motivation. However, it requires timely and thoughtful teacher practice to provide modeling, constructive feedback, and scaffolding while engaging students in metacognitive conversation so that instruction is at the cutting edge of each learner’s immediate learning needs.

Step 3: My Research Idea :

ü  English language teaching strategies in primary school students at the Lirio de los Valle Educational Institution.

·         The Colombian State, in its General Education Law, proposes the teaching of a foreign language from primary school. Official documents such as foreign language guidelines and basic competency standards are mainly focused on the teaching of English in public schools. In these documents, it is proposed that students manage to communicate in this foreign language once they are in high school (MEN, 2006 p.6). therefore, to achieve this objective, it is necessary to prepare the resources and procedures for teaching English, promoting those aspects that guarantee its feasibility such as: adapting the groups of students (numerically), preparing the teachers in charge of teaching English , provide schools with necessary educational material, take into account the learning needs of students and increase the time allocated to teaching within the established plans and schedules.

However, the achievements established by the Ministry of National Education in the standards of education in foreign languages are not met due to the lack of some resources and the misuse of existing ones. It is necessary to propose strategies from new methodologies, with the help of the didactic units in the learning of English as a foreign language, emphasizing the ability of oral production (speaking) in the student of the Lirio de los Valles Educational Institution and that can be able to transmit your message so that it is received and understood.

 Ø  Questions?

• What teaching strategies does the teacher promote in his primary school students to teach English as a second language L2.

• What is the context that is used to develop the skill of oral production or speech so that they master this second language?.

Ø  General objectives

Design strategies for teaching the English language in primary school students of the Lirio de los Valle Educational Institution, emphasizing the ability of oral production (speaking) in the student who may be able to transmit his message so that it is received and understood with the help of didactic units. at the Lirios de los Valle Educational Institution.

Ø  Specific objetives

Design activities that develop teaching - learning context where students interact (home, school, culture, custom, etc.).

• Use all the skills necessary by the teacher to get the student to concentrate on pronunciation through technological teaching methods.

• Create a mini bank of storybooks and tongue twisters in English to familiarize the student with oral communication (speaking).

• Organize weekly spaces for audio visual activities such as (watch movies with English subtitles, listen to various songs, games, hobbies in English, etc.

Ø  What is the importance of the study in our field for your research idea?

With the help of the new didactic units in the learning of English as a foreign language, emphasizing the ability of oral production (speaking) in the student of the Lily of the Valley institution, he may be able to transmit his message so that it is received. and understood with the help of didactic units, it seeks to promote interactivity in learning English as a foreign language, since in today's society learning this language has become a necessity that promotes world communication. For this reason it is important to arouse the interest of primary school students in early language learning, where new educational resources as a resource. (Video, games, images, audios and the most important of all the conversation (talking) that makes it possible for students to increase their level of motivation and facilitate their learning, through different varieties of feelings and multisensory responses that this implies In this way, it seeks to contribute to making knowledge more useful and to produce significant learning.

  • QUESTIONS

1. What was the motivation of the project?

The motivation of this project is that based on some studies of some times it has been shown that the motivation of this project is that based on some studies of some times it has been shown that the homeschoolers consistently score well above the national average for public schools. homeschooled students and homeschooled adults are doing as well or better than their peers who attend public and private institutional schools. This is true with respect to academic achievement, social and emotional development, and functioning in college and adulthood in general

 2. What are the key research questions and how were they investigated?

Parent-led homeschooling, academic achievement, socialization, motivations, compulsory schooling.

Homeschooling parents call it the "S question": "What about socialization?"

Such a question arises mainly in societies in which the institutionalization of children has been the norm for several generations of children. The first part of question S. usually asks if the child will have healthy social, emotional, and psychological experiences.

  • Are homeschooled children acquiring the "skills, behavior patterns, values, and motivations"?

Based on three decades of homeschooling research, it clearly is. Recent research

  • Why is homeschooling not supported by the education system?

Parent formal educational attainment consistently explains statistically significant differences in achievement but, practically speaking, small amounts of variance, and the amount of variance explained is typically less than what this variable explains within the public school student population.

  3. Is this a quantitative or qualitative research?

It is quantittive: it is reproduced in cultural settings, times and with different groups of participants. The results can be statistically compared. Data collected during a quantitative research study is often expressed as percentages or averages. It is a structured method of collecting and analyzing information that is obtained through various sources. Works on the stimulus and response system

 SWOT analysis

My Research Idea

A quantitative research is proposed that allows the development of intellectual, academic and knowledge skills, based on the use of quantitative designs, to propose, explain, understand and solve phenomena taken from their direct reality, which leads to the search for strategies and ways to improve it, expressing it in logical and coherent explanations, from which alternatives of its reality are validated and formulated.

Among its techniques are usually used:

  1. Standardized survey using closed and multiple-choice questions (for example, as an (online) questionnaire, expert interview, or group discussion)
  2. Standardized observation of behavior patterns
  3. Experiments and tests for the collection of numerical data
  4. Quantitative content analysis by capturing measurable data such as text and images.
